Hearts and Minds
1974. USA. Directed and produced by Peter Davis. Davis’s film unflinchingly confronts the United States’ involvement in Vietnam. Using a wealth of sources, including interviews, newsreels, and footage of the conflict at home and abroad, he constructs a damning portrait of the effects of the war. Steeped in both controversy and acclaim, the film was nearly buried by its studio, but ultimately made its way to screens—and into the hearts and minds of its audience. 112 min.
