Broken Rainbow
1985. USA. Directed by Victoria Mudd and Maria Florio. Written, produced, and edited by Victoria Mudd and Maria Florio. Narrated by Martin Sheen. Broken Rainbow tells the often heartbreaking story of the forced relocation of 12,000 Navajos from their ancestral homeland in Arizona beginning in the 1970s. Yet the tragedy of their exile—caused by corporate greed for local energy resources—is brightened by portraits of heroic resistance. The film illuminates the plight of indigenous peoples struggling to survive in the face of “progress.” 70 min.
