1931. Germany. Directed by Richard Oswald. Screenplay by Carl Zuckmayer, Albrecht Joseph, based on Zuckmayer’s play Der Hauptmann von Köpenick: Ein deutsches Märchen. With Max Adalbert, Ernst Dernburg, Willi Schur, Paul Wagner. A popular satire, set during the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II, about the absolute regard Prussians had for uniforms—no matter who was wearing them. In German; English subtitles. 90 min.
