  • The Devil Is a Woman

1935. USA. Directed by Josef von Sternberg. Screenplay by John Dos Passos, Sam Winston, based on the novel The Woman and the Puppet by Pierre Louys. With Marlene Dietrich, Lionel Atwill, Cesar Romero, Edward Everett Horton. In this seventh and final Sternberg/Dietrich collaboration, the two reveal much about their tortured romantic relationship, in an outrageously sumptuous Spanish setting. This is one of the most beautiful and personal films ever to come out of a Hollywood studio 80 min.
