The Boulevard of Berlin Dreams
Saturday, October 25, 2008, 8:30–11:00 p.m.
In conjunction with the exhibition Kirchner and the Berlin Street, PopRally invites you to a night of postmodern cabaret and desperate nostalgia acts, conceived and hosted by performing artist Isengart and featuring the jazz band Grandpa Musselman and the Syncopators, burlesque star Amber Ray, singers Lady Rizo and Sanda Weigl, songwriter Rami Ramirez, and a live installation by Machine Dazzle.
Kirchner and the Berlin Street brings together German Expressionist artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's spectacular Street Scene paintings. Street life captured Kirchner's eye, inspiring him to make paintings that exude the vitality, sexuality, decadence, and mood of imminent danger that characterized Berlin on the eve of World War I.
In keeping with the evening's theme, guests are encouraged to dress in their most decadent cabaret attire.
PopRally would like to thank Grolsch and Fred for their sponsorship. Cocktails by Pernod Absinthe.
PopRally is funded by the generous support of Jerry I. Speyer and Katherine G. Farley.
