PopRally Presents: HOLYCHILD
Sunday, April 6, 2014, 8:00–11:00 p.m.
PopRally is a series of events at MoMA and MoMA PS1 that serve as a gateway for young and diverse audiences to engage with the Museum. Led by a cross-departmental committee of Museum staff, PopRally produces dynamic programs including artist collaborations, performances, film screenings, and digital content that encourage new and experimental ways of engaging with modern and contemporary art.
PopRally invites you to an exclusive performance by HOLYCHILD (Liz Nistico and Louie Diller), a Los Angeles–based duo that, as Billboard put it, treats each song as a “pop polemic, poking at the absurdity of female beauty standards while a dance-friendly guitar riff ricochets in the background.” The event includes a special screening of the band's conceptual video trilogy, which accompanies their recently released debut EP MINDSPEAK and an opportunity to view the MoMA exhibition Robert Heinecken: Object Matter. Guests can draw connections between HOLYCHILD’s videos, “which trace the stages of objectification experienced by a central female character, from empowerment to insecurity and emotional desolation,” and Heinecken’s work, which examines American attitudes toward gender, sex, and violence in a humorous and provocative way.
Admission includes a cocktail reception and exclusive access to Robert Heinecken: Object Matter after Museum hours, and A DJ Set by DJ Le Chev.
Special Thanks to Sud de France Wines: Gerard Bertrand, Arrogant Frog, Jaja de Jau and Gilles Louvet. Beer for this event has been provided by Brooklyn Brewery.
You must be 21 or older to attend this event.

Doors open at 8:00 p.m.; screening is at 9:00 p.m. and performance is at 9:30 p.m.
