PopRally Presents: An Evening with Blondes
Saturday, January 21, 2012, 8:30–11:30 p.m.
PopRally is a series of events at MoMA and MoMA PS1 that serve as a gateway for young and diverse audiences to engage with the Museum. Led by a cross-departmental committee of Museum staff, PopRally produces dynamic programs including artist collaborations, performances, film screenings, and digital content that encourage new and experimental ways of engaging with modern and contemporary art.
PopRally is thrilled to kick off 2012 with an evening of transcendent electronic dance music, courtesy of Blondes. Join us for a night of immersive music, light, and sound, including a sound installation and live performance by Blondes and a DJ set by Juan MacLean.
Blondes—the Brooklyn-based duo of Zach Steinman and Sam Haar—create ecstatic, semi-improvisational dance music using live electronics. They harness hypnotic, pulsing minimal chords, layering textured sounds over house rhythms to produce a vein of dance music that is, truly, its own beast.
Visitors will also have the exclusive opportunity to view the exhibitions Contemporary Art from the Collection, 1980–Now; Harun Farocki: Images of War (at a Distance); Sanja Iveković: Sweet Violence; and Projects 96: Haris Epaminonda.
The performance begins at 9:30. Admission includes an exclusive exhibition viewing and cocktails. Come dressed to impress and ready to DANCE!
PopRally is supported in part by The Friends of Education of The Museum of Modern Art.
