Conceptual Art: Language and Materials
Sunday, September 22, 2013, 1:30 p.m.
Painting and Sculpture II, Gallery 21, fourth floor
Can an artwork made out of language still be a sculpture? Can an invisible work be as sensual and material as a painting? Join us in exploring the works of Robert Barry and Lawrence Weiner, two key figures from Conceptual Art who insist on the materiality of their works, and on the viewer’s role in the construction of the work of art.
Gallery Sessions, impromptu interactions facilitated by Museum educators that explore the creative process, art history, and the experience of art, take place daily in select galleries. Groups meet in the galleries noted on the schedule. Gallery Sessions are free with Museum admission. No registration is required.
FM headsets for sound amplification are available for all talks.
