Sunday, September 1, 2013, 1:30 p.m.
The Florene Schoenborn Painting and Sculpture Gallery, Gallery 6, fifth floor
Join us for a close look at the life and work of Henri Matisse. Special attention will be paid to the artist’s use of line in key works such as Dance (I) (1909), Red Studio (1911), and a selection of bronze sculptures. Vistors have the opportunity to create small thumbnail sketches in order to explore the various techniques used by the artist.
Gallery Sessions, impromptu interactions facilitated by Museum educators that explore the creative process, art history, and the experience of art, take place daily in select galleries. Groups meet in the galleries noted on the schedule. Gallery Sessions are free with Museum admission. No registration is required.
FM headsets for sound amplification are available for all talks.
