The Myth of the Artist
Thursday, August 29, 2013, 3:30 p.m.
The Donald B. and Catherine C. Marron Atrium, second floor
Explore the idea of the artist as a singular author who communicates his or her unique experience and perspective through artworks. By looking at both modern and contemporary examples, we discover how artists have developed individual styles, described their practice, and framed their intentions in order to enforce this myth.
Sign language–interpreted Gallery Conversations are held every fourth Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m. FM headsets for sound amplification are available for all talks. Gallery Conversations are free with Museum admission. No registration is required; however, we suggest arriving 10 minutes prior to the start of a talk, as groups are limited to 25.
