Tonight’s Music Performance: Jerron Paxton
Jerron Paxton, guitar, banjo, fiddle, and singing
In his mid-twenties, Jerron Paxton is already an acknowledged master of multiple blues traditions and genres. A musician of charisma and accomplishment, he plays it all in a songster style that draws on country blues, ragtime, hokum, old-time, Irish reels, Appalachian mountain music, and more. Paxton, who now lives in Queens, hails from an African American Jewish family with mixed Creole and Choctaw Indian–Irish ancestry, transplanted Louisiana sharecroppers who moved to South Central Los Angeles. He finds that “so much music is technique, just skill and not enough feeling. I am happy to play so that the audience feels like I am in their living room. I want people to be enjoying themselves.”
In conjunction with the exhibition American Modern: Hopper to O'Keeffe
Snacks and Beverages in the Garden
Seasonal snacks, bruschetta selections, and specialty cocktails, draft beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages are available for purchase in the Sculpture Garden on Thursday nights. The Garden Bar, located at the northeast corner of the Sculpture Garden, also sells savory and sweet treats, including local gelato, sorbetto, homemade desserts, wine, beer, and specialty cocktails. In the event of rain, bars will be closed.
