In celebration of the launch of the new publication from MoMA's International Program, From Postwar to Postmodern, Art in Japan 1945–1989: Primary Documents, MoMA hosts a panel discussion with three Japanese artists and architects representing three generations, MoMA curators, and the co-editors of the book. This volume gathers texts that are critical to a deeper understanding of postwar Japanese art, the majority of which are translated into English for the first time. These translations are complemented by co-editors' contextual essays and newly commissioned texts by Japan- and U.S.-based scholars. Discussions are moderated by Doryun Chong, Associate Curator of Painting and Sculpture, MoMA. Participants include (to be confirmed): Yasunao Tone, musician; Meiro Koizumi, artist; Michio Hayashi, Professor in the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Sophia University/co-editor of From Postwar to Postmodern; Pedro Gadanho, Curator, Department of Architecture and Design, MoMA; and Sarah Suzuki, Associate Curator, Department of Prints and Illustrated Books, MoMA.
