The Clock—Silent Disco
Thursday, December 20, 2012
9:30 P.M.–12:30 P.M.
MoMA

Join us as "The Clock" strikes midnight with a "silent disco" dance party, featuring a DJ lineup organized by John Stanier of Battles.

In honor of the opening of Christian Marclay's hypnotically addictive 24-hour video installation The Clock, guests can hit the dance floor wearing wireless headsets through which they can choose between two separate channels programmed by the DJs. Though the room remains silent, guests have a dance party between their ears. Along with DJ John Stanier, the event features sets by That Kid Prolific and Operator EMZ.

Guests also have an exclusive opportunity to view The Clock as it counts down to its thrilling climax on the exhibition's opening night. The Clock is a cinematic tour de force that unfolds on the screen in real time through thousands of film excerpts that form a 24-hour montage. Appropriated from the last 100 years of cinema's rich history, the film clips chronicle the hours and minutes of the 24-hour period, incorporating scenes of everything from car chases and boardrooms to emergency wards, bank heists, trysts, and high-noon shootouts. Please note that admission to the installation, which seats 130 visitors at a time, is on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no time limit for viewers, and viewing is not guaranteed.

Music begins at 9:30. Admission includes the reception, cocktails, and an opportunity to view the installation.

PopRally is supported in part by The Friends of Education of The Museum of Modern Art.

Special thanks to Sud de France Wines. Beer for this event has been provided by Brooklyn Brewery.
