| 60 SECONDS OF FAME WITH CONRAD VENTUR THURSDAY, JANUARY 20, 2011 8:00–11:00 P.m. MoMA |
PopRally invites you to 60 Seconds of Fame, an interactive event
inspired by the exhibition Andy Warhol: Motion Pictures. After an
exclusive viewing of the exhibition, guests can record their own "screen
test," directed by artist Conrad Ventur, to be projected on the walls of
MoMA's Marron Atrium and uploaded to the PopRally and Andy Warhol: Motion Pictures website. WFMU DJ Evan "Funk" Davies will provide the soundtrack for the evening. Conrad Ventur was recently included in Greater New York 2010 at MoMA PS1. He creates immersive environments that draw on the power of celebrity, collective memory, and nostalgia, using archival footage of cultural icons downloaded primarily from Internet sources like YouTube. In a recent ongoing series, Ventur restaged ten of Warhol's screen tests using their original subjects. Admission includes a cocktail reception and a ticket to record one screen test. Special thanks to Sud de France Wines: Château de Jau, Monte Lauro Vineyards, and Château de Campuget, and Mont Tauch. Beer for this event has been lovingly provided by Brooklyn Brewery. |
