Join PopRally for an intimate evening of after-hours gallery talks and exhibition viewing of Abstract Expressionist New York, with a cocktail reception and music by DJ M.M.Milksop III.
This exhibition offers an in-depth examination of MoMA's collection of Abstract Expressionist art, begun in the 1940s and developed through a series of ambitious acquisitions over the next half century. Together, these paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, films, and archival materials represent a decisive movement that propelled New York City to the center of the international art world. This remarkable exhibition marks a historical first for MoMA: an entire floor of the new building devoted to a single theme.
Timed tour tickets are not required. Attendees are encouraged to explore the exhibition at their leisure. MoMA lecturers will be stationed throughout the fourth-floor galleries to greet guests and lead discussions from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Abstract Expressionist New York galleries on the third floor will also be open for viewing.
Admission includes a cocktail reception.
