Fluegel was the Associate Editor of the Publications Department, 1968-82. [Note: the Publications Department became the Publications/Bookstores
Department, 1974-77, and later, the Publications and Retail Operations Department.]
The processed Jane Fluegel Papers (2 linear feet) relate to activities of the Department of Publications of The Museum of
Modern Art from 1967 to 1981, when Fluegel was Associate Editor. The Papers contain correspondence with institutions concerning
reproduction rights and with staff members concerning production. Noteworthy items include an interview with Sidney Janis
conducted by Helen Franc, 1967; correspondence regarding the preparation of the Janis Collection catalog; and books by John
Rewald, The History of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism: From van Gogh to Gauguin, including chapters of the former annotated by the author.
The records are open for research and contain no restricted materials.
The Jane Fluegel Papers are the physical property of The Museum of Modern Art. Literary rights, including copyright belong
to the authors or their legal heirs and assigns. Rights to work produced during the normal course of Museum business resides
with The Museum of Modern Art. For further information, and to obtain permission to publish or reproduce, contact the Museum
Archivist.
The Papers were transferred to the Archives by the Publications Department around 1986.
