K–12 SCHOOL GROUPS

School Visit Programs engage students in object-based lessons that develop critical-thinking skills and foster an appreciation for works of art in the Museum's collection.

In these programs, students learn to look carefully at works of art and articulate their ideas about them. This emphasis on analytical skills provides a vital support to art studies as well as other areas of the school's curriculum—from observation, analysis, and problem-solving in science to conversation, vocabulary building, and writing skills in language classes.

Programs for students in grades K–12 include guided programs and other options. For all guided programs, the Museum provides suggested themes to focus your lesson. Before each lesson, the educator will contact you to develop a lesson theme and plan suited to your class's curricular needs and interests.
