As far as I can remember I’ve always loved art. My Mom used to tell me that she always knew I would be an artist because when I was much younger I used to draw very symmetrically and very often. Between my earlier years and my more recent years I lost interest in art and skipped over to music. When my older sister started me on looking for colleges I was torn between the two. When I realized that I couldn’t sing or play an instrument, My decision
cemented. Art was the way to go!!!
My fire for art rekindled in my freshman year of high school. I took a mandatory art class and was recommended for the Emerging Artist program at school, which is a three year program that readies you for art school. Ever since then I have really aspired to become a better artist. This program has definitely helped me to realize that art is defined as VERY different things. Such as books. I never in my life thought of books as art. Until our field trip to Booklyn.
We learned how to make several types of books. In general, This program was all I expected it to be; educational, recreational and enjoyable.
