A Muslim’s prayer rug ensures that the
space for prayer, which takes place five
times per day, is clean and separated
from other activities. Soner Ozenc has
created a rug that points the praying
person in the direction of Mecca. He
embedded in the rug a compass module
that connects with electroluminescent
printing on its surface; the carpet pattern
grows brighter and brighter as it is
turned in the correct direction.
