This widget adapts video footage of a New Haven crosswalk light into a hybrid digital/analog timepiece. The footage runs backward so that the seconds are counted forward, and the clock is composed of three separate views of the light representing hours, minutes, and seconds. As the designer notes, “the materiality…of the crosswalk light concretizes time as a measure of walking and conjures both a spatial and kinesthetic memory.” The ghostly symbol of the crossing pedestrian echoes Paul Klee’s painting of the same name.
