Techniques & Materials / Paperboard

As used here, paperboard designates a range of stiff wood-pulp boards that feature finishing steps, such as the paper-faced material Picasso employed in relief constructions and as a support for collage work. Although the term is general, the paperboard that Picasso used has a low-grade core faced on both sides with pieces of slightly higher quality paper. It had uses both commercial and artistic.
