Techniques & Materials / Faux Bois

Craftsmen traditionally manipulated paint with specialized brushes and metal combs to imitate the appearance of high-quality wood, and their fine skills were faked by mass-produced faux bois wallpaper. Made using artisanal techniques, Picasso's hand-painted faux bois makes reference to real wood, the craftsman's rendering of it, and its printed facsimile.
