Picasso incorporated printed wallpaper into his artwork, most often patterns of flowers or foliage. The blank margins of the wallpaper, normally overlapped when it is pasted on a wall, are visible in several of Picasso's papiers collés. They serve as reminders of the more common use of decorative papers.
