Canada's first feature-length fiction film written, produced, directed, and acted by Inuit won the Camera d'Or prize at Cannes, and is based on a traditional Inuit story of a community's life-threatening struggle with an evil shaman. Two brothers—Amaqjuaq, the Strong One, and Atanarjuat, the Fast Runner—challenge the shaman's curse. In Inuktitut, English subtitles. 175 min.
