As we get ready to say goodbye to summer this holiday weekend, make the most of the season and enjoy some of this week’s picks:
• Our survey of World War I films, The Great War: A Cinematic Legacy, continues on Monday, August 25, with two programs of shorts, one featuring The Silly Side of War, and another, The Tramp at War, focusing on the work of Charlie Chaplin.
• Get weird! On Wednesday, August 27, join us for Drawing from the Surrealists, a free Gallery Sessions tour that includes sketching exercises.
• On Thursday, August 28, join us for MoMA Nights, when the Museum galleries are open until 8:00 p.m. and musicians perform in the Sculpture Garden at 6:30 p.m., with dining and snack options available outside and in our Terrace 5 café. This week’s performance is by wistful rock n’ roll duo Widowspeak.
• If you haven’t already, be sure to visit MoMA Art Lab: Movement before it closes on Sunday, August 31. This free space lets kids explore movement in art in a hands-on way, from assembling mobiles that balance to making stop-motion animation.
