Women’s Film Preservation Fund Program
June 3, 2005

The Women’s Film Preservation Fund (WFPF), part of New York Women in Film and Television, was established in 1995, in association with MoMA, to preserve American films in which women have made a significant creative contribution. This important initiative has supported the preservation of over forty films made between 1913 and 1990 by such germinal figures as Mary Ellen Bute, Gunvor Nelson, Storm de Hirsh, Maya Deren, and pioneer Alice Guy-Blaché. The only fund of its kind in the world, WFPF is dedicated to saving our cultural legacy and highlighting the importance of women in film history. This special presentation, part of MoMA’s To Save and Project preservation festival, is organized with the cooperation of New York Women in Film and Television, with special thanks to Drake Stutesman, Suzanne Pancrazi, Ina Archer, Noelle Bower, and Lois Bianchi.
