Outstanding Short Films from International Festivals
June 22 and 23, 2005

This annual showcase of recent short films—documentary, narrative, animated—shown at international festivals, is cosponsored by the New York Film and Video Council. The program on June 22 will be introduced by Howard Weinberg, President of the Council.

Cut. 2004. Singapore. Directed by Royston Tan. An MTV-inspired fantasy about film censorship in Singapore. 13 min.
Minotauromaquia. 2004. Spain. Directed by Juan Pablo Etcheverry. A clay animation inspired by Picasso’s classical drawings of the minotaur. 10 min.
Lezione di stile (A Lesson in Style). 2004. Italy. Directed by Franco Fraternale. A gentle comedy about an octogenarian pickpocket. 9 min.
Sliding Flora. 2003. Israel. Directed by Talya Lavie. About a klutzy waitress in a Jerusalem café. 12 min.
The Old Man and Hemingway. 2004. USA. Directed by Hugo Perez. Profile of the Cuban boat captain who inspired Ernest Hemingway’s Old Man and the Sea. 8 min.
Kiss Feri tutira megy (Kiss Feri Scores Big Time). 2003. Hungary. Directed by Barnabas Toth. A teenager obsessed with video games discovers the challenges of real life. 10 min.
His Passionate Bride. 2004. Great Britain. Directed by Monika Forsberg. An animation about the steamiest, briefest romance ever. 3 min.
Rare Exports Inc. 2003. Finland. Directed by Jalmari Helander. A bizarre Lapland tale about hunters and their rare catch. 8 min.
Fall into Half Angel. 2003. Ireland. Directed by Roisin Loughrey. Documentary about the trust between two trapeze artists. 7 min.
Flatlife. 2004. Belgium. Directed by Jonas Geirnaert. An animation about the hilarious encounters of apartment dwellers. 11 min. Program 91 min.
