Special Screening: Andrew Noren's Free to Go
May 2, 2005

Organized by Mary Lea Bandy, The Celeste Bartos Chief Curator, Department of Film and Media

Free to Go (Interlude). 2003. USA. Directed by Andrew Noren. Noren has been making moving-image art for over forty years, and is perhaps cinema's greatest practitioner of light, shadow, visual texture, and velocity. His recent digital work celebrates the primal nature of vision and the mind's construct of duration: "Intuitive conjuring and orchestration of retinal phantoms, refined by abstraction into music for light and mind… in three ‘movements'" (Noren). (The third movement, titled "5th and 53rd," was recently on view in The Yoshiko and Akio Morita Gallery.) 62 min.
Monday, May 2, 8:00. T2
