An Evening with Paul Auster
September 15, 2003

This event marks the paperback publication of Paul Auster’s latest novel, The Book of Illusions (Picador USA, New York), about the “lost” silent film comedian Hector Mann. The New York author reads from his book and introduces his 1998 film Lulu on the Bridge—now part of MoMA’s archives.

Organized by Laurence Kardish, Senior Curator, Department of Film and Media.

Lulu on the Bridge. 1998. USA. Written and directed by Paul Auster. With Harvey Keitel, Mira Sorvino, Willem Dafoe, Vanessa Redgrave. A mystery at once romantic and fantastic, Lulu on the Bridge charts the intense relationship between a saxophonist and an actress. 103 min.
Program approx. 140 min.
Monday, September 15, 7:45 (introduced by the director)
