Jean Epstein's Coeur fidèle

December 2 and 5, 2002

Coeur fidèle is being shown as part of a course on Epstein by Daniel Ricciuto at The School of Visual Arts, neighbor of The Gramercy Theatre.

Organised by Laurence Kardish, Senior Curator, Department of Film and Media.

Coeur fidèle (The Faithful Heart). 1923. France. Directed by Jean Epstein. Screenplay by Jean and Marie Epstein. With Léon Mathot, Gina Manès. This avant-garde classic set in Marseilles immediately placed its young filmmaker Epstein (1897-1953) at the forefront of French directors. No intertitles. Approx. 75 min.
