About the Exhibition Open Ends
As the final cycle of the MoMA2000 Exhibition series (following ModernStarts and Making Choices), Open Ends explored the period from 1960 to the present, an era that has seen connections between traditional forms of art and new artistic processes and interests. Photography and film have had a tremendous impact on painting and printmaking. The differences between sculpture, architecture, and performance have been blurred. New forms of art such as video have taken center stage.

In order to incorporate all of these changes, Open Ends included a wide range of objects, images, and room-sized installations. Some of the most important art works from the last forty years were exhibited next to works by emerging artists of today.
