Acquired from the artist by the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen (Schlossmuseum), Weimar, 1923 [1]; removed as "degenerate art" by the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, 1937; sold to Karl Buchholz, Berlin, February 20, 1939 [2]; sold to Curt Valentin, New York; purchased by Philip L. Goodwin (1885-1958), New York, May 3, 1939; The Museum of Modern Art, New York (Philip L. Goodwin Collection), 1958.
