Note, all other Ford Family Programs, including Tours for Fours, A Closer Look for Kids, Family Films, and Watch This! Films for Tweens, are drop–in programs and do not have preregistration. Please visit our calendar of events for ticketing information.

TOURS FOR TWEENS In this gallery talk series specially designed for families with eleven– to fourteen–year–olds, kids and adults engage in gallery activities, share ideas, and exchange opinions about modern and contemporary art.
Remix: The Art of Appropriation For children ages eleven to fourteen and their adult companions. Adults and children participate.

CONVERSATIONS WITH CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS: THE FAMILY EDITION Contemporary artists share their inspirations and art–making techniques in special presentations.
Matthew Ritchie For children ages seven to fourteen and their adult companions.
Join us for a conversation with Matthew Ritchie and then participate in a special collaborative art–making project directed by the artist. This special group installation will briefly be on view in the Cullman Education and Research Building.
Matthew Ritchie recombines history, culture, and the principles of physics to create his own lyrical visual language in interactive architectural spaces, paintings, light boxes, and multimedia installations.
FAMILY ART WORKSHOPS Ages vary by workshop. Only children of ages listed below will be permitted to attend. A special two–hour workshop for families. Kids and adults explore works in the collection and special exhibitions, then use their experience in the galleries as inspiration in art–making workshops. Sign up for one date and time per workshop. Sessions are available in the morning or afternoon on all dates.
Prefab For children ages ten to fourteenand their adult companions.
We'll visit Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling to consider how architects use prefabrication in their designs for contemporary homes. Then we'll put our design skills to the test as we construct model dwellings of our own.

Public and Private: Drawing from Life For children ages seven to nine and their adult companions.
On a crowded street, alone in a room, posing for a portrait. We'll explore how the modern figure is captured in paintings and works on paper. Then we will grab our pencils as we create our own compositions in this special drawings workshop.
Cut and Paste For children ages four to six and their adult companions.
Come discover how artists transform and arrange everyday materials in works of art. Then explore the colors, shapes, and textures of a myriad of materials to create collages in the studio.
