The eleventh exhibition in the Museum’s New Photography series includes three artists who create installations—one site-specific—and one artist who appropriates his pictures from film. While these artistic strategies demonstrate some of the most advanced formal experiments in photography, the exhibition is not intended as a survey of contemporary work, but as a presentation of individual achievements.

  • This exhibition is part of New Photography.
  • This exhibition is made possible by a generous grant from Springs Industries, Inc., and is part of The Springs of Achievement Series on the Art of Photography.

    How we identified these works

In 2018–19, MoMA collaborated with Google Arts & Culture Lab on a project using machine learning to identify artworks in installation photos. That project has concluded, and works are now being identified by MoMA staff.
