New Photography is an annual series of exhibitions devoted to significant recent photography. Since 1985, the series has presented the work of more than fifty artists from around the world. Although the purpose of the exhibition is to present notable individual achievements, rather than to provide a representative survey, the work of Rineke Dijkstra, An-My Lê, Vik Muniz, and Kunié Sugiura does suggest the diversity and vitality of contemporary photography.

Organized by Susan Kismaric, Curator, Department of Photography.

New Photography 13 is made possible by Banana Republic.

How we identified these works

In 2018–19, MoMA collaborated with Google Arts & Culture Lab on a project using machine learning to identify artworks in installation photos. That project has concluded, and works are now being identified by MoMA staff.
