Party Wall, CODA

This exhibition features the five finalists’ proposals from the MoMA/MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program (YAP), and the five finalists from each of our affiliated programs—in Rome at the National Museum of XXI Century Arts (YAP MAXXI) in Santiago, Chile (YAP CONSTRUCTO) and in Istanbul, Turkey (Istanbul Modern). Now in its 14th edition, the Young Architects Program at MoMA PS1 offers emerging architectural talent the opportunity to design and present creative projects, challenging each year’s winners to develop highly innovative designs for a temporary outdoor installation that provides shade, seating, and water. The architects must also work within guidelines that address environmental issues, including sustainability and recycling. The winning designs by CODA (Ithaca, NY) in Long Island City, bam! bottega di architettura metropolitana (Turin, Italy) in Rome, and SO? Architecture and Ideas (Istanbul, Turkey) in Istanbul will be on view throughout the summer in the courtyards of the respective museums, and in Santiago, Chile, from December 2013 through February 2014.

Organized by Pedro Gadanho, Curator, and Leah Barreras, Department Assistant, Department of Architecture and Design.

The 2013 Young Architects Program is sponsored by Bloomberg Businessweek.
