Please join us for a series of films about unique and universal journeys to self-discovery that prove coming-of-age stories can be told at all stages of our lives. Each screening will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A with a special guest.
Time effortlessly shifts from the present to the past and future in Daughters of the Dust (1991), Julie Dash’s visual family album about the Gullah people’s time gathering to say farewell before their migration north in 1902. The film is narrated by an unborn girl child, who speaks of the importance of tradition, ancestry, and cultural legacy.
Registration is now open for our May 29 program. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.
