Sound artist, designer, and electronic musician Yuri Suzuki explores the realms of sound through exquisitely designed pieces, raising questions about how our minds are affected by sound and music. Suzuki showcases two of his inventions at MoMA Studio—Colour Chaser and Ototo—and leads a workshop in which participants learn to make their own musical notation and instruments, and collaborate with musicians on a final public performance.
October 23:
Electronic artist Michna and New York music label Ghostly International lead participants in a collaborative project to create music with Colour Chaser and Ototo. The result will be recorded and shared on SoundCloud.
Space is limited. Free with museum admission, but a separate ticket is required. Drop-ins on the day of the program will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis in the Cullman Education and Research Building, beginning one hour prior to the start of the program.
Workshop duration is 90–120 minutes.
Studios are free, interactive spaces offering drop-in programs and artist- and educator-led workshops to visitors of all ages in conjunction with an exhibition or a topic related to modern and contemporary art. These experiences complement looking and talking about works of art in the galleries, allowing for engagement with art in participatory, creative ways. Visitors can experiment, play, and create as they make connections between their lives, their own creativity, and the processes and materials of modern and contemporary art. Learn more
