This Design Interactions Studio kickoff event addresses case studies and theoretical applications in which design intersects with ideas of the common good. Panelists look to their own work to consider how this intersection arises across social, political, economic, and cultural platforms, as presented in the exhibition This Is for Everyone: Design Experiments for the Common Good. Participants include Laura Kurgan, Director, Center for Spatial Research, Columbia University; Marta Gutman, Professor of Art History, The Graduate Center/CUNY & Spitzer School of Architecture, CCNY; and Raphael Sperry, architect, green-building consultant, and president of Architects/Designers/Planners for Social Responsibility. Paola Antonelli, senior curator in MoMA's Department of Architecture and Design, moderates.
Tickets ($15; $10 members and corporate members; $5 students, seniors, and staff of other museums) can be purchased online or at the information desk, at the Film desk after 4:00 p.m., or at the Education and Research Building reception desk on the day of the program.
