FALL SCHEDULE FOR JAZZ AT MOMA ANNOUNCED

Live Music Free with Museum Admission on Fridays

WHAT:
The Museum of Modern Art presents live jazz every Friday evening from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., September through June, in The Garden Café. Jazz at MoMA features established musicians and emerging artists performing a variety of jazz standards, as well as original compositions that reflect the vitality and trends of the contemporary jazz scene.

September 3: The Roni Ben Hur Quartet featuring Cecil Payne, with special guest vocalist Amy London.

October 1: Francesca Tanksley Trio.

November: JazzStarts
Presenting four special evenings in conjunction with the exhibition ModernStarts (on view October 7, 1999-March 14, 2000) featuring leading musicians who take a fresh approach to early jazz traditions keeping the repertoire vividly alive for a new era.

November 5: The Wayne Goodman New Orleans Jazz Band
Trombonist Wayne Goodman leads a classic New Orleans ensemble who pay tribute to "Jelly Roll" Morton, Joe "King" Oliver, and other early jazz pioneers

November 12: Reginald R. Robinson
In a rare New York appearance, this Chicago-based ragtime virtuoso plays his own modern-day compositions as well as those by Scott Joplin, Louis Chauvin, and other vintage composers

November 19: Wycliff Gordon Duo
Master trombonist Wycliff Gordon is joined by a pianist for an evening of reinterpreted spirituals, blues, and Gordon's own early jazz-influenced compositions

November 26: Michael Hashim's Bulletin D
This passionate and quick-witted saxophonist leads an ensemble in surprising interpretations of works by Fats Waller, Cole Porter, Don Redman, and others, including Arnold Schoenberg, who evoke the musical spirit of the early twentieth century
