James Grooms joined The Museum of Modern Art in 2020 as General Counsel and Secretary to the Board of Trustees. Mr. Grooms oversees the Museum’s board governance and legal affairs. Prior to joining the Museum, he was General Counsel at New York Road Runners and, prior to that, at Jazz at Lincoln Center. He holds a JD from the University of Michigan and a BA from Colgate University. He brings to MoMA his expertise in board relations, governance, not-for-profit, compliance, intellectual property, enterprise risk, and business strategy.
