Carol Coffin is Executive Director of the International Council. She joined MoMA in 1976 as a temporary employee, and shortly thereafter became the Council’s administrative head. She has worked with five Council presidents. She supports Council members from 27 countries who hold key positions in their own museums, other institutions, and the global arts community. Her duties include the planning, arranging, and management of meetings, budgets, membership support, grants, and Council outreach. Her hands-on responsibilities for the Council’s mostly annual travel program have taken her across the globe to preview and arrange meetings in Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin American, the Middle East, and the US.
Coffin is from Maine and is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College. She has taken arts administration courses at Harvard and Columbia universities. Before coming to MoMA, she was an intern at the Agency for International Development and worked in the legal office of a Maine State Senator.
