Amanda Hicks joined The Museum of Modern Art in 2018 as Director of Communications and Public Affairs. She leads and oversees the execution of communications strategy for all facets of the organization, including programming and exhibitions, institutional news, outreach to the New York City community, and reputational issues management. Prior to joining MoMA, she was the Executive Director of Communications at the Art Institute of Chicago. She previously served as a Public Diplomacy Foreign Service Officer in the US State Department, working in Washington, DC, the Eastern Caribbean, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Qatar, and at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Hicks is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer with three years of service in Central Africa, and she holds an MA in art history from the University of Oregon and a BA in government from the University of Notre Dame.
